Chania

Chania is a coastal town of northwest Crete and it constitutes one of its most important harbor and capital of Chania district. Its extent is almost 13 sq km and comprises the second biggest town of the island after Heraklion. The municipality of Chania is numbering 108,642 residents and includes its biggest suburbs which have been joined residentially with Chania municipality like: Kounoupidiana, Mournies, Souda, Nerokourou, Daratso, Perivolia, Galatasand Aroni. There was a major minoan town and has identified with ancient Kidonia.

One of the most popular places of the municipality is Seitan Limani beach. It is a disorganised beach and needs a 10 minute descent as there is no road to lead there.Its name (Satan’s Harbour) is owed  to its  so difficult descent and ascent and trainers are definitely needed.In Chania, the visitor will meet some of the most impressive cretan beaches…Elafonisi, Balos, Falasarna, Chrissi Akti, Agia Marina, Platanias are only some of them… some of the museums worth visiting, are the Marine Museum of Crete, at Venetian port, the Archaeological Museum of Chania as well as the War Museum. Other places of historical and cultural interest is the whole Old Town  and the Venetian port,the mosque of KioutsoukChasan and the Residence of El.Venizelos in the area of Chalepa.
