Kefalonia or Kefallinia, is an island of the Ionian Sea and belongs to the Ionian islands. Formally and mostly in administration is mentioned as the ancient type “Kefallinia”. It is the sixth biggest island in extent and it’s about the Meliti island in Apostles Actions 28,1

Kefalonia offers countless beautiful beaches that combine crystal clear waters, white and golden sandy beaches, green scenery but also steep rocks, virgin landscapes, facilities satisfying the desires of the most demanding visitors.

The most famous beach of the island is Myrtos beach which has been voted countless times as the best beach in Greece, while it constitutes a trademark of Ionian islands.Steep rocks embracing the white sandy beach and the landscape fills the blue crystal waters of Ionian. The beach disposes a few deck chairs but its biggest part is free for its visitors.

One more notable beach of Kefalonia is Antisamos beach which was widely known through the shooting of the film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”.  It is about an organized beach with deck chairs and beach bars whose natural beauty remains unspoiled. The greenest vegetation of the beach is reflected on its crystal waters creating a special atmosphere.

Xi beach is the most separated from the rest Ionian beaches. It is very close to Lixouri. Its diversity is owned to the fact that in contrast to the usual landscape with the white pebbles and the steep rocks that prevail in the island.At Xi the colour tile of the sand is prevailed making it ideal mostly for kids and families since its waters are shallow.

In a 5 minute distance by car from Fiscardo lies Foki beach which isn’t so known. It is about a peaceful bay that is surrounded by olives and cypress trees giving fantastic hues to its crystal waters. The name of the beach is owned to Monachus Monachus seals that visit it often.

All the above are little from the dozens special beaches the island of Kefalonia has. Some more beaches worth visiting is Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos, two goldenorganised sandy beaches surrounded by pines, the beach Emplisi in the north part of the island reminds a big pool, Dafnoudi, which will offer you a beautiful route in the nature, Petani with green blue waters and fine pebbles and many more.
